Lynn Jones African-Canadian and Diaspora Heritage Collection

I moved to Halifax for school, for a couple reasons. First, because the supervisor I wanted to work with goes to Dalhousie, my current university. But also because Nova Scotia has a history of African Canadians that dates back generations, all the way to the times of slavery. Many members of this indigenous community are activists who have protested not only the conditions that foster anti-black racism, but many other forms of social injustice. One of these people is Lynn Jones.

There is a collection at St. Mary’s University that showcases some of her personal archive. For those who are in Halifax, I suggest checking it out. For those who are not, below is the link for digital images from the archive. Happy researching!

P.S. Black history EVERY day.
